The Spanish triathlon bets on NFTs and AI
Within the framework of the recent Championship of Europe from Madrid, the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI) decided to gamble by the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the non-fungible tokens ( NFT ) in your competition. Thus providing participants with a unique and revolutionary experience.
The participants of the event witnessed an important advance in the world of Spanish triathlon. This is because digitization and technological innovation through AI and NFTs have been opted for. The measure seeks to meet the needs of the athletes and adapt to the 21st century society.
Bringing AI and NFTs to the sports world
One of the highlights of this championship was the implementation of the technology of Artificial Intelligence to create custom finisher videos for each athlete. By using advanced algorithms, the AI may be able to collect and process data from each triathlete during the competition.
Among the data that may be of interest to AI in the sports world are the times of the different segments and images of the participants in full action.
The event featured a custom video for each athlete , allowing them to relive their championship experience in a unique and exciting way. In addition to the custom video finisher, other technological innovations were implemented at the event. One of the most interesting aspects was the goal arch with LED technology, which was pioneered in events of this magnitude.

This LED arch had a prominent display showing the names, surnames, categories, faces and times of the athletes, as well as the references of the best classified. This real-time visualization allowed participants and the public to closely follow the progress of the competition and increase the excitement at the event.
Additionally, a live results platform, known as Live Results, was enabled. It allowed viewers to follow the results of the competition instantly. This platform provided detailed information on triathlete times and rankings, adding an element of interactivity and excitement to the spectator experience. As a closing, the video made by AI was complemented with the delivery of NFTs to the winners.
Handing out the medals as NFT
In recognition of each athlete's participation in the European Championships in Madrid, they were given a digital diploma that reflected their image and marks obtained during the competition. This diploma served as a tangible and personalized memento of your achievement at the event. About the use of AI and NFTs, FETRI shared via Twitter the next:
“The European Championship in Madrid put the most advanced technological innovations at the service of its athletes. Personalized video finisher, Live Results at the finish line, digital Diploma and NFT Medal.”
But perhaps one of the most outstanding and novel aspects of this championship was the awarding of medals as NFT. These unique and collectible digital medals were awarded to all age groups in addition to their physical medals.

NFTs allowed triathletes to share their achievement on social media, with friends, family and co-workers, and showcase their participation in a prestigious event like the Triathlon European Championships.
“And as a culmination and together with their finisher medal, all the Age Groups also won their digital medal in NFT format, perfect to share with friends, family, colleagues… and to be able to boast of their participation in an entire European Championship of Triathlon."
With this, NFT medals also have additional value as digital assets, since they can be traded or sold on the market of cryptocurrencies . Being a test of how technologies like AI and NFTs can be employed to promote healthy activities such as sports.
