University of SP launches Brazil's first blockchain postgraduate course

Centro Universitário UniFECAF, a private higher education institution in São Paulo, announced this week the opening of the first postgraduate course in blockchain development in Brazil, a 100% online course with a duration of 360 hours and certified by the Ministry of Education and Culture. ( MEC ), according to the educational institution.

According to UniFECAF's official page, students will have 50 hours dedicated to the introduction of blockchain, with classes on the usefulness of the technology, differences between the Bitcoin and Ethereum R$9,130 networks, main classes of crypto assets and the meaning of the decentralized internet, the   Web3 .

The content includes six other modules, most with a workload of 50 hours: Blockchain from scratch; Bitcoin programming; Solidity (Ethereum programming language) in practice (60 hours); Building smart contract; Assembling a Web3 application; Advanced Topics.

For Leandro Ortunes, new business director at UniFECAF, Brazil's regulatory advances in relation to the crypto and blockchain sector are an indicator of market expansion.

“We see a growing demand for new developers with blockchain expertise from financial market companies. This demand has increased considerably, especially after Brazil has become a hub with favorable regulation in areas such as Web3, tokenization and cryptocurrencies,” he said.
In the opinion of Armando Dutra, CTO of Vórtx tokenizadora and one of the graduate professors, the shortage of labor harms Brazilian companies in competition with foreign ones.

“Even considerable salaries in Brazil, with vacancies paying BRL 20,000 a month, become small when professionals realize that they can fill vacancies in different countries. In the United States, for example, a junior developer earns US$ 70,000 a year, at the beginning of his career, and often working here in Brazil”, he argued.

In addition to Dutra, the graduate faculty at UniFECAF, in partnership with edtech BlockTrends, includes names such as computer scientist Rafael Izidoro, CEO of Rispar, fintech credit with collateral in cryptocurrencies, and Pedro Argento, co-founder of GoBlock and leader of the global team at Cartesi, a blockchain based in Singapore.
