Brazilian students earn BRL 75,000 by creating cryptocurrency and blockchain projects

The Institute of Technology and Leadership (Inteli), the first technology college in Brazil with a teaching-learning model totally based on projects, held the Challenge 2023 between May 5th and 7th, a hackathon focused on creating related alternatives the blockchain and cryptocurrency market.

 

Considered by the faculty as the first in its category to be organized entirely by higher education students, the event distributed R$ 75,000 in prizes.

 

Divided into five categories: GEAP/7 Visions, Mynt, Cartesi, Titanium Asset and Hathor, participants could win prizes of up to R$ 17,000.00 in each challenge.

One of the event's differentials was the support offered to participants, which included mentoring with Inteli teachers, campus infrastructure and food for the three days.

 

The mentorships had a technical bias towards the construction of infrastructure in  blockchain , business applications and the use of technology in collaboration with ESG principles are among the topics addressed, which should be conducted by speakers from renowned companies in the sector.

 

One of the student organizers of the event, Henrique Marlon, recalls that the planning and construction took four months, and the entire team was motivated.

 

“It took four months of planning and construction for the event to get off the ground. We worked hard so that this opportunity was offered in the best possible way, so we used our experience in hackathons to define the paths and create a motivating, pleasant and receptive environment for each participant to exchange experiences and gain more knowledge.”

 

Henrique is one of the 25 young people who make up the Inteli Blockchain Student Organization. The team has experience in the subject and has already won awards in 6 hackathons. Among them, the 2nd place in the BNB Chain, held by Campus Party, and the 1st place in two categories of EthGlobal, the biggest Hackathon in Latin America.

According to Maíra Habimorad, CEO of Inteli, the project presented by the students encourages new talents to seek solutions with technologies that are useful to the market.

 

“Events like this meet our desire to encourage talent to use their full potential in developing useful solutions for the market. Innovation is the key to a sustainable future and we are very proud of our student organizers for having the initiative and dedication to unlock an opportunity for impactful idea generation.”

 

Divided into five categories that bore the name of the sponsoring companies, the event had representatives from each of them to evaluate the projects developed by students. The proposed challenges were:

 

  - Cartesi: project that uses the company's system as a basis to operate;

  - Titanium Asset Management: project based on artificial intelligence that has connection with the financial market;

  - Mynt: project based on BTG Dol  capable of unlocking the potential of stablecoins;

  - Global Environmental Asset Platform (GEAP): project using Blockchain for green assets;

  - Hathor: construction of applications using the company's Blockchain technology.

 

Meet the winning projects and what pains they solve using blockchain technology

Winner in two categories, the Car-bon project was awarded by Cartesi and GEAP. The platform developed by the group used Blockchain as the basis for converting CO² emissions from cars into tokens for environmental compensation.

 

Refrescos is the name of the winning project in the Hathor category. The initiative offers “cashback” in carbon tokens for purchases in a direct relationship with the sustainability of the products purchased by the consumer.

 

TitanAnalytics was the winner of the Titanium Asset category. The project uses artificial intelligence to analyze and develop recommendations that help with investing in cryptocurrencies.

 

In the Mynt category, the winner was StablePay. The solution promotes the dollarization of assets and automatic exchange between BTG Dol and establishments, being useful for payment of expenses.
