Omar and the Portuguese discoveries are the motto of the first crypto stamp   Portuguese launched this Tuesday, 28th, by CTT. Eight centuries later, the company modernizes a slice of national history through ''Caravela'', the crypto seal that will be issued in physical format and NFT ( non-fungible Token ), and which was developed in partnership with   start-up  Estonian Stampsdaq.

"This is a market trend that, among other purposes, aims to bring young people closer to our activity. This way of seeing and using the classic postage stamp will further strengthen the bonds of trust, proximity and affection that the Portuguese people dedicated to the post office", underlined the CEO of CTT, during the collection presentation event that took place this afternoon at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento.

João Bento also mentioned that this is not a debut milestone and recalled CTT's pioneering spirit in issuing stamps made of cork, silk fabric or including remotely activated LEDs on the stamps. The manager believes that this step reinforces the position of the postal, parcel and logistics company "in the digital economy".

In total, 40,000 stamps will be issued from the collection entitled "Navigating to discover the future" - 30,000 in physical format and 10,000 digital ones that will be available on the StampsDaq platform. When purchasing a physical stamp, at a CTT store or online, the buyer receives a card with the stamp on paper and a 10-digit numerical code, which must be entered into the StampsDaq platform to allow digital access to the corresponding NFT stamp.

The digital stamp is accessible in the crypto wallet and can be paid with Matic - the native cryptocurrency of the Polygon network or using a credit card. Once the NFT is accessed, it must be stored in the crypto wallet, which allows the seal to be stored and consulted at any time.

"The NFT stamp, in digital format, has different levels of rarity, the one corresponding to the stamp purchased is only known when accessing the StampsDaq platform. In the physical format there is only the common stamp, but when the redemption is carried out From the associated NFT, the collector receives a digital stamp with one of 4 levels of rarity, in four categories: common, with 35,000 copies; rare, with 4,900 copies; super rare, with 99 copies and unique, with only one copy. The fact that the rarity level is not known at the time of purchase means that it is not possible to choose the associated NFT, which makes this stamp very interesting for both traditional collectors and digital native consumers and, naturally, for all those interested. in reinforcing its portfolio", clarifies the company.
