Introducing 'DRKVRS' — Coming from the Creators of 'The Witcher' and 'Cyberpunk 2077'

  

DKVRS is described a metaverse-type project that combines an RPG game with a social media platform. It's an extensive world with robust history and factions created according to human character archetypes.

Inspired by Cyberpunk 2077- with an R-rated cosmic horror experience- the gameplay is focused on the interaction between users and unique challenges within the story.

 

 

DRKVRS takes players to the bowels of an ancient cosmic beast called Leviathan. Players will explore the city of Babalon (named after the Thelemic goddess). This “transhumanist dystopia” serves as the central hub for players to interact with one another, advance the story, and make complex moral choices. 

DRKVRS aims to change the perception of metaverse games as solely play-to-earn schemes. Its developers say that the goal is to produce a game developed by gaming industry professionals first, merging their expertise with blockchain technology. 

 

"Because goals and achievements only matter when the risk of failure is real. We want DRKVRS to stand out not only when it comes to exciting gameplay and a transparent economic system, but also originality." 

 

"In order to do that, we have been cooperating with a group of renowned creators who have been building the DRKVRS universe, its mythology, and its atmosphere. We know that such an undertaking is a marathon, not a sprint." 

 

 

The project is coming from Marcin Kobylecki, who previously worked on video games “The Witcher” and “Cyberpunk 2077,” now wants to bring a darker fantasy edge to the still nascent metaverse with new project DRKVRS.

Kobylecki is heading up the creative development of DRKVRS in collaboration with Aleph Zero. Aleph Zero is a proof-of-stake blockchain launched in November 2021, with the AZERO native token powering the network.

 

Kobylecki also served as the executive producer of the Oscar-nominated animated short film “The Cathedral,” directed by Tomasz Bagiński. With his background in computer animation and special effects on games like “The Witcher” is helping to drive the development of DRKVRS.

Kobylecki stated, "’The Witcher’ is a good example because ‘The Witcher’ is a stylized game," said Kobyleck. "So our universe, the DRKVRS, we created a stylized game, and we tried to find a new look for these kinds of projects." 

 

 

 
Two tokens will be used for DRKVRS: a tradeable token, SPECK, and a second called God's Blood that will be used in-game, with Aleph Zero providing the underlying infrastructure for token transfers, voting, and NFT minting. 

 

Plans for DRKVRS include a DAO (decentralized autonomous organization) to oversee governance and vote on game developments.

 

A decentralized autonomous organization, better known as a DAO, is an organizational structure where control is spread out rather than hierarchical. DAOs use smart contracts on a blockchain, with participants using governance tokens to vote on proposed actions. 

 

 

 

DKVRS Collaborators include popular Polish fantasy, science fiction, and horror writers Łukasz Orbitowski and Jacek Dukaj.

The DKVRS team also recently announced on Twitter that they have been accepted into the NVIDIA Inception Program. DRKVRS will gain access to cutting-edge technical tools and the latest AI resources. This is big news when it comes to Web3 gaming and I can't wait to see what awesome game play and visuals we get .

DKVRS explores the dark side of the metaverse. Described as the place for outcasts from other metaverses, this Dark Metaverse game exuberates an air of mystery and i can't wait to see more.

Currently, they are working on the first playable location (teaser), which will be available to a large, yet still limited, group of users. More details will be revealed in Q2 of 2023.
