Weekly Overview: What Happened in GameFi, NFTs, and Metaverse This Week? [January 6 - 13]
We collect this week’s highlights on NFTs, play-to-earn, and metaverse which are the main topics we hear more and more details about every day.
For those who do not want to miss the most influential news about the industry among dozens of news, we have compiled the top five of the week for you.
‘BONK’ Trying to Carry Solana’s Remaining Hopes
Solana has become one of the most speculated crypto actors of recent times after the strong decline it suffered. As we mentioned in last week’s article, the departure of DeGods and y00ts from the platform brought collapse scenarios. Solana’s cryptocurrency SOL, on the other hand, attracted attention by falling to the $8 level.
However, Solana’s misfortune shows signs of getting in the way of BONK. BONK, the meme token launched on the Solana network, quickly gained popularity. Recently, Bonk announced that there will be released a 15,000-piece NFT collection on Magic Eden.
Thus, the project, which was compared with Shiba, has now made a move toward the NFT side. It seems that Solana has pinned the hopes of salvation on BONK. In addition, Solana-based Gods NFT owners will take part in the first mint process of their Bonk NFT.
The First Web3 Mobile Game Platform ‘Meta Masters Guild’ in Presale Now
Meta Masters Guild, which developed the world’s first dedicated Web3 mobile gaming platform, has now launched the first phase of the crypto pre-sale of its (MEMAG) token.
Meta Masters Guild also draws attention with its market approach. In the conflict of gameplay and rewards, which is one of the main discussions of the Web3 Gaming concept, the company; clearly states that the project is developing a platform that puts the quality and replayability of its games before tokenization and the reward system.
The firm generally focuses on replayable, sustainable, and enjoyable mobile games that take less time and are cheaper to produce.
The first three games on the Meta Masters Guild platform are currently in development. These games are Meta Kart Racers, Raid NFT and Meta Masters World.
Just in the first phase of the pre-sale, MEMAG tokens are available for sale at $0.007 each, and early investors are also preparing to take advantage of a token that will increase 228X in seven phases.
MEMAG has a maximum supply of just 1 billion tokens, with 350 million allocated for pre-sale, which equates to 35 percent. The pre-sale tokens will have no eligibility period and no fixed cap of $4.97 million. The other 15 percent of the supply is reserved for stock market quotes and liquidity.
The other 500 million tokens were split between the continued development of the ecosystem (15%), the marketplace (15%), the reserve (10%), and the team (10%). These tokens will be earned and unlocked linearly over 36 to 48 months.
‘Optimism’ and ‘Arbitrum’ Surpassed Ethereum in Transaction Volume
The usage area of layer-2s in the blockchain industry has now come to a position close to the mainstream.
Ethereum’s layer-2 activities were previously leading in the industry but have started to decline as of this week. Indeed, Ethereum has left its place on the leaderboard to two other prominent networks, Optimism and Arbitrum.
Apart from a few spikes, transactions on the Ethereum network decreased by 33 percent towards the end of October 2022, according to data by Etherscan. Arbitrum and Optimism, on the other hand, have improved particularly well over the past three months, with Dune Analytics noting that Optimism and Arbitrum have processed more than 1.12 million transactions. On Ethereum, on January 10, more than 1.06 million transactions were processed.
Ethereum processed 12 transactions per second compared to the other two Tier-2 networks on January 10. This figure was 16.5 per second in Optimism and Arbitrum.
Arbitrum and Optimism combined represent almost 80% of the entire layer-2 ecosystem, according to L2beat data.
Mastercard and Polygon’s Web3 Music Collaboration
Mastercard, known for its intimacy with cryptocurrency, is now collaborating with Polygon, one of the leading layer-2 within the industry.
Within the framework of this collaboration, Mastercard announced its program called “Mastercard Artist Accelerator” on its website on January 7th. According to the announcement, the program will be launched in spring 2023. With the collaboration of Mastercard and Polygon, five musicians from around the world will be allowed to establish their brands in Web3 music. With the release, users will be able to start streaming music; collecting and selling music NFTs.
“The artists will gain exclusive access to special events, music releases, and more. A first-of-its-kind curriculum will teach the artists how to build (and own) their brand through Web3 experiences like minting NFTs, representing themselves in virtual worlds, and establishing an engaged community,” highlighted in the post.
Polygon thus took another big step in the field of Web3 Music. In December 2022, the company partnered with the global entertainment giant Warner Music Group, a Web3 music platform called “LGND Music”.
Holoride and Audi Partnership for Web3 Automotive: “Motorverse”
Holoride, in collaboration with Audi, will appear at CES2023 as one of the companies that blend Web3, Blockchain, and automotive.
Launched at CES 2023 in the US, Holoride uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze the car’s movement in real time, combining it with the user’s head movements to refine the driving experience.
When we look at the official website of the company, we see that 3 different products have been introduced. These products are VR glasses, metaverse applications, and vehicle integration.
The system, which works on HTC’s VIVE Flow glasses as glasses, gives its users the chance to quickly switch between both the vehicle and the metaverse.
Holoride’s driving system can also use data from Audi’s parking sensors, tracker cameras, and motion sectors. Then, the movements of the vehicle are also reflected in the users preferences.
Thus, the passengers in the vehicle can interact with the metaverse and game environments designed instantly by processing the data on the road.
Backed by Audi, Holoride activates the automobile world by launching the metaverse it has developed using technological developments.
