Rock in Rio is the target of criticism after launching bracelet in NFT: "Is it for use in The Sims?"
The organization do Rock in Rio announced this Tuesday (11) the distribution of the famous bracelets that served as tickets to the festival, but it was not quite what the public expected. This year, the music festival used digital tickets for the first time and, following the same line, decided to launch the famous bracelets in NFT format.
The digital art is being released in partnership with Block4 and is inspired by old souvenir tickets. In all, seven customized models of NFTs were developed, representing each of the days of the event.
However, this new format did not please the public on social networks, which still regrets the extinction of the original bracelet. Check out the reactions:
For those who attended the festival, the exclusive NFTs will have no cost to be acquired and are now available on the platform. The redemption will be available on the platform until November 11 at 11:59 pm.
“With each edition, Rock in Rio has been innovating more and more. We have allied ourselves with the new technologies that are emerging because we know the enormous potential and reach they have. In August, just before the festival, we announced the arrival of the festival to the Metaverse with an exclusive map in Fortnite. Today, we are entering the universe of NFTs, an old desire that we had and we are very happy to fulfill”, said Luis Justo, CEO of Rock in Rio, in a statement.
“We know that the bracelets were special to our fans and that they kept them as a kind of festival memento. In fact, there is always a very strong feeling of nostalgia linked to the festival, so much so that we have also had the 1985 mud as a souvenir of the City of Rock. It was precisely with this emotion in mind that we developed our first digital art inspired by the old tickets, to keep alive the strong feeling of memory and nostalgia that the bracelets carry”, he added.
This year, Rock in Rio hosted concerts by Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, Avril Lavigne, Ludmilla, Demi Lovato, Luísa Sonza, Green Day, Post Malone and more.
