Gol Last Edition is the first national car to be sold in NFT in Brazil
Over its 42 years in line, the Volkswagen Gol has made history. The most produced, best-selling and most exported model in the history of the Brazilian market, the Gol was also the first national car to have electronic injection, the first national to have Total Flex technology and now, in its special farewell series, the Gol leaves more a mark in history by becoming the first national car to be sold in NFT.
Unit 0042 (referring to Gol sales time in Brazil) will be offered through an NFT at Digital Garage, a platform for fans of the brand to collect items in NFTs created by the manufacturer itself. The auction will open at 12:00 on the 1st of December and will be on the air for a week, until 22:00 on the 8th of December. The starting bid is exactly the value of the suggested price for the Gol Last Edition: R＄ 95,990.00 — which sold out in just 30 minutes.
The winner of the auction, in addition to guaranteeing one of the 1,000 units of the special series, will take an exclusive NFT card, referring to Gol's farewell series. The digital sketch was specially designed by José Carlos Pavone, Head of South America Design, to illustrate the cover of the owner's manual for this special Gol series. In addition to digital, an autographed physical version of the drawing will also be delivered to the winner.
Completing the NFT package digitally registered on the Blockchain and unit 0042 of the physical vehicle, the winner will also be invited to an exclusive experience at the Anchieta Plant, the first Volkswagen outside Germany, knowing part of the production process and also the new facilities of the Collection of VW Classics, a garage with several units that marked the history of Volkswagen in Brazil, and of which the Gol Last Edition is the newest member.
The Auction
The auction will follow the same logic as a traditional virtual auction. On the day the auction starts, the minimum bid will be highlighted on the main screen from 12:00 pm. Those interested in acquiring the NFT can make offers with a minimum value greater than 0.1% of the current price. Offers with amounts greater than 10% of the current price will not be considered — this is a common practice to avoid false offers.
Whoever registers the highest value until 22:00 on December 8th takes home the exclusive card in NFT and, of course, the iconic unit. Confirmation of the transaction will be sent to the email registered on the Digital Garage platform. If payment is not completed within two business days, the auctioned vehicle will be offered to the second highest bidder and so on.
