For the first time in Spain, a national museum will coin its own NFTs: an exclusive collection with masterpieces by Van Gogh. “These works of art were converted into high-definition NFTs using blockchain technology and certified by the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, a national museum museum,” Carlos Grenoir, CEO of metaverse platform Olyverse, told Decrypt. The Olyverse Platform presents itself as a decentralized star club, which aims to bridge the gap between fans and celebrities in an innovative and decentralized way, linking club members through NFTs). Van Gogh's choice as the first historical artist included in the Olyverse was a no-brainer. “In addition to the fact that I love Van Gogh, we wanted an artist who would be universally recognized, who would embody the same philosophy as ours, and who would create something new and disruptive,” he told Decrypt.
Bridging the gap between fans and celebrities.
The first chapter of the Olyverse origin story begins with an encounter. After graduating as a cybersecurity and neuroscience engineer, Grenoir was working in the cybersecurity field when he met Kevin Mitnick, a renowned hacker and security expert. This meeting led to the construction of a platform with the aim of taking advantage of blockchain technology and virtual reality to offer a new type of interaction between stars and fans. For now, the platform offers experiences with Álvaro Morte, the Spanish actor who acts in Netflix's Money Heist. Former soccer player Carles Puyol, actress Elsa Pataki and actor Kerem Bürsin will also join soon, along with a digitized version of Vincent Van Gogh, who also introduces himself as a member of this all-star club. To onboard more users, the Olyverse team worked to make the metaverse accessible to people who don't know how to use a wallet. “Olyverse put the user experience first and made sure that accessing the metaverse didn't require VR glasses or knowledge of cryptocurrency. Everything happens behind the scenes, to allow for easy mainstream adoption of our OLY utility and the entire ecosystem,” said Grenoir. Although users can connect through MetaMask or other digital wallets, they also have the option of using credit cards.
