Cultural Turn of SP in the metaverse fails; see how the face-to-face will be
After the failure of the Virada Cultural de SP in the metaverse , the City Hall of São Paulo announced this Tuesday (16) the attractions of the face-to-face event, which will take place on the next 27th and 28th of May. As disclosed , it should be invested around R$ 40 million and it is expected to receive 4 million people.
The São Paulo City Hall announced that there will be more than 500 artistic presentations. Among the attractions, concerts by the band BaianaSystem, by singer Karol Conká, are confirmed, in addition to names such as Supla, Tierry, Raça Negra, Roberta Miranda, Ferrugem, Liniker, Alceu Valença, Zé Vaqueiro, Fundo de Quintal, Dilsinho, Anavitória, Victor Fernandes , Tássia Reis and the Pixote group.
With the theme “Virada do Pertencimento”, the event will have 12 stages throughout the city – three more than in previous editions. Of these, the only one that will operate for 24 hours will be the one in Vale do Anhangabaú. The rest stop on Saturday at 10 pm and return at 10 am on Sunday.
The “Belonging Turn”
The Municipal Secretary of Culture intends to raise R$ 400 million with the event and generate 1,800 jobs. “To decentralize the Virada Cultural is to make the COHAB window in Itaquera the Virada Cultural box, and not just the COPAN window”, says culture secretary Aline Torres in a statement.
“This year, the periphery is even more present, with three new arenas”, he adds. Virada Cultural do Pertencimento 2023 takes programming to a total of 49 participating spaces, four regional theaters, in addition to Theatro Municipal; 15 culture houses; 12 cultural centers; four museums; 11 libraries; and two CEUs.
In addition to the shows, on Sundays all arenas have the Viradinha from 9 am to noon, with activities and shows aimed at children. The children's program also includes Palavras Cantada, in Campo Limpo; Cumbia Cavalera, in Brasilândia; Queen Live Kids, in São Miguel; 16 Tons, in Interlagos; Bloquinho Gente Miúda, at M'Boi Mirim; among others.

Metaverse canceled
At the end of April, the municipal management decided to cancel the edition of the event that would be held virtually, the so-called Virada Cultural do Metaverso. The measure took place after the Court of Auditors of the Municipality of São Paulo (TCM) suspended the public notice from the city hall due to lack of explanations about the event.
