MMA fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov criticized for promoting NFT

Popular YouTuber Coffeezilla, who exposes crypto fraud, has accused Russian mixed martial artist Khabib Numagomedov of defrauding investors with NFTs.

Khabib Nurmagomedov launched a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in partnership with GoMining, of which he became an ambassador in October 2021. The company's goal is to provide ordinary people with access to the first cryptocurrency by rewarding GMT token holders with bitcoins mined in its data centers. Each NFT is supported by 29 Tx/s processing power with 35 W/T/s power efficiency.

The hash rate of 29 TH/s was a reference to Khabib Nurmagomedov's historical record in professional mixed martial arts: 29 wins and no losses. The former champion won 13 Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) victories before finally retiring from the sport. Collectible tokens are designed to serve as tickets to private events held by Nurmagomedov several times a year.

“Soon you will be able to buy NFTs, which will become a pass to my private club, and which will mine BTC for you,” Nurmagomedov tweeted.

However, YouTuber Coffeezilla criticized the champion for promoting crypto assets and suggested that the martial artist return to the ring again, instead of misleading his fans.

Earlier, Coffeezilla made similar claims to crypto billionaire Logan Paul, accusing him of cheating subscribers. Initially, Paul intended to sue the YouTuber for defamation, but he later changed his mind and apologized to his subscribers.

Recall that in March 2021, Khabib Nurmagomedov announced the release of NFTs in the form of gold, platinum and diamond cards dedicated to the iconic moments of his career.
