Social network VK introduced an NFT platform — unique hexagonal avatars and a public showcase

At the VK NFT Launch event, which took place on December 12, the VKontakte social network presented a major update related to the introduction of Web3 elements.

Users will be able to set any NFT art as a unique hexagonal avatar or place it in a collection on their page - for the second case, the developers have implemented a special public showcase. Later, native support for cryptocurrency wallets will appear in VK.

You can manage the Web3 page through the VK NFT platform (it will work for all users in the near future). The mobile application will help users set up a crypto wallet and download NFTs. There is also a small training course, for the passage of which they give themed emoji.

Features of the NFT platform:

  • The showcase provides detailed information for each token: ID, collection, owner, etc.
  • Users have no restrictions on the number of downloaded NFTs.
  • VKontakte will support minting tokens from digital images, videos, gifs, music tracks or other content.
  • Later, the developers promise to implement NFT functions in emoji, avatars, gifts and other elements of the social network.

Another surprise for netizens awaits in 2023. The VK team will present its own NFT collection — tokens from well-known digital artists Zhenya Zubkov, Misha Liberty and others will appear. The unofficial mascot of the Spot social network will become the hero of the collection. They also promise a full-fledged NFT marketplace.

Opportunities to work with NFT will appear in the coming days in applications for iOS and Android.
