The first NFT collection from VKontakte sold out in 30 minutes
VKontakte conducted the sale of its own NFT collection CryptoSpotty - the first case of the sale of non-fungible tokens for rubles. Users sold out 90% of the tokens in half an hour, and the entire collection of 8000 Spotty sold out in less than 1 hour. More than 3000 users became owners of their own tokens with the legendary mascot.
The social network recorded a huge demand for the collection: already at the very start of sales, more than 10,000 users were in the queue for the purchase at once, and there were tens of thousands of people who wanted to buy NFT from the first drop. CryptoSpotty became the top 1 collection on the Rarible marketplace in terms of sales per hour. All funds received by VKontakte will be sent to the Attention Foundation for the restoration of an architectural monument - Buck's apartment building in St. Petersburg.
The social network conducted the first successful case of selling NFT for rubles in the VK NFT application. Together with the unique CryptoSpotty, buyers received priority access to the following collection sales on the VKontakte platform. The collection is already actively traded on the secondary market on the Rarible marketplace for several times the original sale price. In the future, VKontakte will launch its own NFT marketplace for primary and secondary sales with a minting function — all the authors of the social network will be able to independently release, promote and sell digital art.
Marina Krasnova, CEO of VKontakte:
“We created the VK NFT project with the confidence that the interest in the opportunities associated with NFT technologies is extremely high – both among users and among authors, artists and brands. With the help of VKontakte tools, we strive to make these technologies as accessible and understandable as possible for the widest audience. The release of our own digital collection CryptoSpotty has caused quite a stir. Each user had a margin of time to calmly make a payment, so during the purchase in VK NFT there was a kind of analogue of a digital queue. Without this technical feature, our collection of thousands of NFTs would have been sold out in three minutes. In gratitude for such interest, we are already preparing new surprises for our users.”
Alexander Tobol, CTO VKontakte:
“We have been working for a long time to present a unique for Russia solution for selling NFTs for rubles directly on our social network. User demand was even higher than we expected. Our platform coped with the enormous load on the payment system: we processed thousands of payments per second. Given the huge interest, we are already preparing the next big drop, which will have even more tokens. And in the near future, we will introduce a separate marketplace with the possibility of minting tokens, primary and secondary sales directly on VKontakte.”
On April 28, the last stage of sales of the three rarest NFTs from digital artists — Ruslan Vyaltsev, Zhenya Zubkov and Misha Liberty — will take place. They can be bought in the chatbot. Users who make the highest bids will be able to pick up the legendary tokens from the authors. Along with collectible NFTs, buyers will receive face-to-face online meetings with artists.
