The St. Petersburg office of the Team Against Torture offers to buy NFT rubles in support

The office of the public organization "Team Against Torture" was opened in St. Petersburg on November 17.

Anyone can support the Team. You can do this on her website   in three different ways: you can leave a donation in rubles, cryptocurrency, and also by buying NFT-art with the image of ruble bills from contemporary artists.

The department will be led by   Yulia Fedotova, who is known for her work as a lawyer for the politician and former mayor of Yekaterinburg   Evgeny Roizman.

“We are terribly happy that Yulia agreed to represent the office in St. Petersburg, although she herself is from Yekaterinburg, she worked in Krasnodar for many years. She is a great specialist,” Natalia Kurekina, press secretary of the organization, shared with ASI.

Natalya Kurekina   also noted that recently the organization has often received reports of torture and ill-treatment from residents of the region. Now the organization has 13 cases at its disposal.

“Before that, an interregional inspector worked for us for a year. But he came to the region only when there were separate reports, from time to time. Practice has shown that this format is ineffective, because sometimes you need to urgently defend the victim or bring an expert opinion. When an inspector, for example, is in Irkutsk, this is impossible,” said Natalia Kurekina.

The office of the Team Against Torture works at 87, Ligovsky,   and accepts applications. But the legal work of the organization requires a lot of expenses. Residents of the region and colleagues in the non-profit sector are actively responding. The entire fundraising campaign was organized with the participation of pro bono volunteers.

“We are asking for your support in order, among other things, to understand whether the inhabitants of the region are ready to vote with their rubles for the work of a human rights activist, whether this project will be interesting. There are few human rights organizations left in the country, we came up with a rather ambitious story so that people in this situation would not be abandoned. And so far we see that the collection is going well. For us, this is a huge honor. Much depends on the people who believe in us,”   added Natalia Kurekina.

To apply to the St. Petersburg office of the Anti-Torture Team, you can call 89022721645. You can take part in the collection   here .

The Anti-Torture Team was created in June 2022 to replace the liquidated Committee Against Torture, an organization recognized as a foreign agent. For 21 years of work, the Committee against Torture received 3,178 reports of human rights violations in Russia. Thanks to his work, more than 297 million rubles in compensation were paid to victims of torture.
