19th February 2026: Backed by $53,000 of SAND tokens, The Sandbox Season 7 will go live on Wednesday 25th February. One notable addition will offer some experiences via the browser, with no download, no installation, and no account required to start playing. This is a move to improve accessibility.
Most of the content, however, will be offered via The Sandbox’s traditional PC and Mac client. Featured brands include Atari, Bruce Lee, Terminator, Black Mirror and Steve Aoki.
Another big change for this season is a focus on community-generated content. 20 such UGC experiences were generated through the Retro Game Jam and the Future Game Jam, which ran in late 2025. These experiences include Metroidvanias, side scrollers and old school shooters from the retro camp, and cosmic shooters and runners in the future camp.
As ever, retention through the season will be encouraged via a 25-level battle pass, featuring both a free and paid track. Players earn experience points by playing, receiving rewards such as NFTs and a share of the SAND prize pool, depending on how far they get through the battle pass.
