Hytopia’s paying $25,000 for dev teams to make a game within 90 days

Having migrated its tech stack to Base, Hytopia is now looking to expand its ecosystem with the launch of a new creator fund.

Originally built as a way of integrating blockchain with Minecraft, Hytopia has since built out its own technology, both in terms of assets and creation tools and blockchain, to enable developers to built their own blocky experiences. This new fund is the latest step in that journey.

Each selected team will receive up to $25,000 in grants, which will be split between five milestones:

  • 10% at concept sign-off,
  • 20% at closed beta,
  • 20% at open beta,
  • 25% upon public launch, and
  • 25% on hitting key milestones.

Other positive aspects of the grants is that Hytopia only receives a non-exclusive license to distribute the games on its platform. It doesn’t take any equity or IP. The projects will also get 75% of their game’s revenue in terms of primary and secondary sales.

However, there are some strict criteria for parties interested in applying.

Teams have to consist of one modeler, one animator and one experienced Javascript/Typescript developer. They also have to have worked on a mobile game with over 100,000 downloads or a Roblox game with over 10 million lifetime plays.

In addition, the games need to developed quickly, within 12 weeks.
