Enjin welcomes pirate MMORPG Cap’n Company with soulbound passes and a 100,000 ENJ reward pool
aptain & Company has been folded into the Enjin ecosystem, and anyone playing the pirate MMORPG is now able to mint an Enjin Pass that keeps a record of their progress on chain.
That pass works as a collectible badge, climbing through Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers as players accumulate in-game doubloons and mint Enjin mXP. Because it is soulbound, it cannot be handed off or sold. Enjin described it as “a digital identity that’s yours alone.”
The prize pool
To mark the launch, Enjin infused 100,000 ENJ into a run of collectible Enjin Pirate Blob NFTs. Fifty winners will share the pool. A random draw across all participants accounts for five of them, while the remaining 45 are pulled from the top of the in-game Piracy leaderboard.
Recipients are free to hold on to their Blobs, trade them, or burn them to redeem the ENJ held inside. It is Enjin’s usual infusion model: coin locked into an asset establishes a floor redemption value, and melting that asset returns the coin to whoever holds it.
What the game is
The Iron Corsairs, the game’s opening season, ran in early 2024. KAP Games designed Captain & Company around a divide between two player types. Captains hold ship NFTs and shoulder the risk each time they sail into combat. Company players bring no ships of their own and instead claim a share of the booty whenever the battles they crew are won.
Fights play out in real time and can hold up to 128 players. Company members take roles such as gunner, boatswain and carpenter, working the guns, repairing hull damage and scouting targets. Crews build up skills including gunning, sailing and spotting, with results feeding a global leaderboard that also determines who gets into events and tournaments.
Cross-play is supported across browser, PC and mobile, and the title appears on Google Play under KAP Games. According to the studio, it is the largest pirate fantasy MMORPG and the first 128-player cooperative naval battle arena. The stated design ambition was to condense the loops of first-person AAA pirate titles into something playable from a browser tab.
Goldcoves and nuggies
Everything takes place in the Goldcoves, where a single global currency called nuggies is in circulation. Pillaging rival players, finishing events and engaging with the wider ecosystem all earn them. Ore and wood salvaged from islands and sunken ships feed into constructing fresh vessels and cosmetics.
The position KAP Games takes is that players ought to own both the games they play and the digital assets within them, and that Captain & Company makes that ownership something players choose rather than something imposed on them.
Background
February 2025 brought the studio’s announced shift to Abstract, with its play-to-airdrop campaign moving over alongside it. Abstract, the Ethereum layer 2 built by Pudgy Penguins parent Igloo Inc., had gone live on mainnet a month earlier.
Early access arrived in stages. Phase one delivered an on-chain loot economy, talent progression and a level system. Phase two brought a mode called Gauntlet along with crafting. Phase three was earmarked for world bosses, land ownership and island governance, and phase four for game store listings, community-controlled nodes and design polls.
From Enjin’s perspective, the integration arrives just days after Wind Season began. Chapter three of the Essence of the Elements Multiverse Quest kicked off July 28 at 15:00 UTC and continues through Oct. 2. The preceding chapter, Water Season, recorded over 32,000 quest events and more than 230,000 Essence points.
Enjin opened its announcement to players with two words: “Ahoy Enjineers.”
