Sequence releases Flourish Islands to show the ease of launching on Epic Games Store
Given that it started out as a web3 game developer with its TCG SkyWeaver, Canadian company Sequence isn’t a stranger when it comes to making interactive entertainment.
Now, however, its focus is on providing other game developers with the tools and tech to make engaging blockchain games without having to handle complex web3 infrastructure.
And that’s the background for its latest release, a single-player resource-focused builder called Flourish Islands.
The particular reason behind releasing the game is to demonstrate to developers how to release a PC game through the Epic Games Store, which is obviously how Sequence is distributing the game.
Built using the Sequence Unreal SDK and Sequence’s Embedded Wallets tech, players can sign in using one of many supported web2 account accreditations and all the blockchain elements are handled in the background.
The game runs on Arbitrum’s Sepolia testnet so while it uses NFTs as a key component, they have no real-world value and are just included for demonstration purposes.
“With Flourish Islands now published on Epic, it proves what’s possible: web3 games can live alongside mainstream titles, accessible to millions of players. The game demonstrates a key point: blockchain features don’t have to be complex for players or developers.
“Sequence makes it simple to embed wallets, integrate on-chain assets, and build secure blockchain experiences, without friction,” the company states.
