MapleStory Universe bans another 20,000 accounts, this time for using macros

Following the banning of around 60,000 accounts during its launch month, MapleStory Universe completed another large-scale clean-up of its ecosystem, notably the PC game MapleStory N.

It reports that 20,000 accounts have been banned between 21st to 25th August 2025 for using macros, which are small programs that automate repetitive actions to quickly farm rewards.

In contrast, the first wave of banning was due to players trying to hack the game to create situations that aren’t possible through normal play.

Combined with its new Credit Level SystemMapleStory Universe seems happy that it’s creating an environment in which honest gamers can get their just rewards.

“It has become increasingly difficult for macro users and farming operations to return in the same way,” it notes.

Of course, this remains a dynamic situation with hackers and exploiters always finding new ways to game the system. But MapleStory Universe’s developers say they will be preparing additional measures, including the deployment of high-intensity lie-detection systems, additional patrols, and new verification procedures to defend against proxy authentication attempts.

Currently the game is attracting around 70,000 DAUWs and 500,000 MAUWs, with around 6,000 new wallets signing up daily.

This number compared to a peak of 70,000 new wallets in June before the first wave of bans and the Credit Level System were introduced.

Trading volume for the game’s characters and other items is also solid at around 650 billion NESO daily, which is roughly $4.5 million-worth.
