Soccerverse dials up trust, gaining Fifpro license for 65,000 football players

Fully onchain football management and economy simulation Soccerverse has signed a licensing deal with Fifpro, which is the representative organisation for the world’s professional football players.

The new license means Soccerverse gains the rights to use the names and images of more than 65,000 professional football players from around the world. Fifpro’s license covers players from over 70 affiliated countries, including England, France, Italy, Argentina, Portugal, Belgium, Scotland, Norway and Sweden.

The integration of these players into the game will be rolled out in the coming weeks, which will also see a major update to the game’s user experience, making its trading gameplay more transparent.

“Partnering with FIFPRO is a landmark moment for Soccerverse and a massive win for our community,” said Soccerverse’s CEO Andy Gore.

“Trust and authenticity are critical to our vision, and this license is our commitment to building a legitimate football universe. This is a true partnership that also supports FIFPRO’s vital mission, providing a global platform for the entire collective of players and giving our community the chance to discover talent from under-represented footballing nations.”

Launched in January 2025, Soccerverse will complete its second of its six-month-long seasons at the end of December 2025, which will see successful managers promoted and less successful ones relegated. Supporters of every club will also receive their end-of-season payouts, which will be determined by each club’s league position.

The game’s third season will start in mid-January, following a two week pre-season.

In total, browser-based Soccerverse features over 5,000 clubs, which can be managed, both in terms of their matchday tactics, as well as more strategic features such as dealing with transfers and loans, and negotiating with agents and handling contracts.

Running on the Polygon blockchain, the Soccerverse economy currently has a fully diluted value worth of $36 million in terms of value of all in-game assets such as clubs and players, with users receiving over $30,000 of in-game payouts in the past month.
