ENS joins GoDaddy to offer free DNS domain usage

In a press release dated February 05, Ethereum Name Service confirmed its partnership with GoDaddy to give domain name users the ability to link their ENS-enabled web domains without the need for technical education. The announcement has increased ENS: Ethereum Name Service NFT trading sales volume by 88% in the last 24 hours.

Founded in 1997, GoDaddy Inc. is an American publicly traded Internet domain registry, domain registrar and web hosting company. Since its inception, GoDaddy has grown in traction, helping millions of entrepreneurs start, grow, and scale their businesses. As of 2023, GoDaddy is the world's fifth largest web host by market share with over 62 million registered domains.

Under the new integration, Ethereum Name Services hopes to leverage GoDaddy's system capabilities to make it easier for customers to use DNS domains across the ENS ecosystem. The partnership also marks an important milestone in bridging the gap between the Domain Name System (DNS) and blockchain technology.

As a mild description, DNS is a naming database that interprets the readable address 'domain name' into a unique string of numbers called an Internet Protocol address. With the partnership, the team will empower its domain owners with combined security and reliability. Commenting about the partnership, ENS Founder Nick Johnson commented:

We are pursuing our mission of building a more secure, decentralized, and user-friendly internet. ENS, like DNS, is a public good and a core part of the Internet infrastructure. By combining ENS Names and GoDaddy Domains, we will streamline the way users interact with web domains, combining the familiarity of DNS with the power of blockchain technology.

In turn, Paul Nix, President of Domains at GoDaddy, commented:

“We are always looking for innovative enhancements that benefit our customers. The partnership with ENS provides our customers with a unique opportunity to experience the fusion of domain names and blockchain technologies, providing some great benefits to users in both sectors.

During this period, the NFT collection has garnered a trading sales volume of 4.93 ETH. ENS was also included in the NFT collection once declared dead due to poor performance.
