FC Barcelona launches an NFT inspired by female empowerment
The Club has collaborated with World of Women in the creation of the piece of digital art that commemorates the exceptional performance of the best player in the world in the semi-final of the Women's Champions League of the 2021/22 season against Wolfsburg.
FC Barcelona continues with the launch of its Masterpiece collection and presents the second NFT in its history, a piece with Alexia Putellas as the protagonist and that pays tribute to a moment that will always be remembered and that is already part of the Club's history: the Women's Champions League semi-final against Wolfsburg, on April 22, 2022, where a record 91,648 spectators witnessed Barça's victory. For the artistic creation of this piece called Empowerment, the Club has collaborated with World of Women, creating a work that symbolizes transformation and a catalyst for progress.
Empowerment is the second NFT in FC Barcelona's ten-piece Masterpiece Collection. The first piece in the collection, Johan Cruyff's In A Way, Immortal, was unveiled in July 2022, and, as announced , the remaining pieces will be released gradually and will feature other emblematic moments and characters of FC Barcelona, where the legacy and historical heritage of the Club will be highlighted. In this sense, Barça embraces technology and innovation to create unforgettable cultural moments and attract millennial, xennial and generation zeta fans.
In addition to fostering loyalty among the younger public, one of the objectives of the project is to redefine NFTs by creating a premium experiential product. Thus, the content is a true work of art, and the future owner of this new product will enjoy advantages and unique experiences of the Club.
A microsite has also been launched where the necessary information and all the details of the masterpiece with Alexia Putellas will be.
Barça's second NFT masterpiece, called Empowerment, represents Putellas' exceptional performance in that Champions League semifinal against Wolfsburg, where she scored two goals, and in which she once again showed the empowerment of women in sport. FC Barcelona leads this movement, in which it defends gender equality and offers equal opportunities to women and girls in sport and in society as a whole, highlighting their talent, passion and determination.
During the creation process, a three-dimensional sculpture of Putellas has been produced, enriched with digital painting, special effects and authentic chants from passionate Barça supporters. The use of gold in the artwork symbolizes Alexia's achievements and timeless legacy. By incorporating multiple layers of illuminating light within the crowd, Madeline captures the dynamic and captivating essence of that exciting and truly monumental moment.
