Blockchain startup founded by Brazilians receives three awards in Japan

Brazilians went to Tokyo, Japan, to participate in a local cryptocurrency community event. Disclosure.

Between April 14th and 16th, 2023, ETHGlobal Tokyo hosted an event with the Ethereum community in Japan. Participating in tournaments, a Brazilian blockchain startup managed to win three awards in the Asian country.

With the challenge of using all 60 hours of the ETHGlobal Hackathon in Tokyo to solve real technology problems, H3aven stood out.

The projects created by the Brazilians join the more than 300 initiatives that competed at the event and sought to present a solution involving Web 3.0.

Challenge of programming 58 hours without sleep was great, says Brazilian startup founder

With an application named “Tokenized Access Control”, the Brazilians Antonio Hoffert and João Henrique Costa climbed the podium three times. Made possible through decentralized data storage, the solution solves two common problems in the digital world: the double spending on accreditation that some platforms suffer from the shared use of passwords and logins, and the kidnapping of customer data by criminals. Netflix, for example, recently released new rules in order to veto the sharing of passwords, and they were not effective.

The strategy developed by the duo was based on accreditation via NFT, which brings security in storing information and makes it difficult to share private keys. “ The idea is to make people more cautious. You will no longer be able to share access information, as anyone can use your NFT, and, signing with the private key, carry out a transaction on your behalf, for example. The login data becomes really personal ”, explains João Henrique Costa.

The solution was presented to the judges and received awards from Polygon, a leading platform for Ethereum scaling and infrastructure development, from Airstack, another platform that optimizes the management, integration and utilization of blockchain and from Filecoin Virtual Machine, a reference ecosystem for execution of smart contracts.

Co-founder João Henrique reported the experience as challenging, since he spent almost 60 hours without sleep.

“It was challenging to sleep only two hours and spend 58 hours developing and programming, but rewarding when solutions take shape and resolve common pain points. To be competing with more than 1,050 other developers from all over the world and to be able to take three prizes to Brazil is to make sure that we are on the right path: the democratization of blockchain solutions.”
