Wildcard reveals how players can get rev share from in-game characters

With its web2 PC game having surpassed 75,000 accounts in terms of Steam wishlists prior to its launch sometime in October, Wildcard is also revealing more details about its wider web3 ecosystem.

This is embedded within its Thousands community platform, which includes interactive streaming technology, as well as an esports economy model that intersects with assets in the Wildcard game.

One aspect of this is the Wildcard Fantasy League, which will allow KYC’ed users to buy – or as it calls it sponsor – some of the in-game characters using the ecosystem’s WC token.

The token is currently live but has been airlocked into wallets so there’s no official liquid price.

However, the token’s total supply is 88.9 million (88,888,888). This relatively small supply suggests that the price could easily go as high as $1 (not investment advice).

In terms of how the sponsoring system works, users will sponsor in-game characters, which have a set WC price ranging from 4,750 WC for rookies up to 28,500 WC for pros.

If a character is drafted into the game’s season, the sponsor will receive a signing bonus in USDC as well as a cut of that character’s in-game winnings.

It will also be possible to own the rights to the game’s venues and share in their revenues although these opportunities will be much more exclusive than the character sponsorship model.
