Solana MMO Kintara Tops 20,000 Players, Rolls Out Europe and Asia Servers

Kintara has brought regional servers online in Europe and Asia, closing out a period during which everyone — no matter where they signed in from — was routed through North America.

The Solana MMO revealed the change on its official account. According to the team, players “can choose the region nearest to them for lower ping and smoother adventures.” A player’s inventory travels across servers, though those on separate servers won’t occupy the same world.

Packed servers made it necessary

The expansion arrived after servers had spent weeks maxing out. Back on June 13, the team reported that its freshly launched Server 9 was full the instant it opened, as were all the other servers live at that point.

“Server 9 just opened and it (along with every other server) instantly filled up  Our top priority right now is raising player limits across all servers while keeping scalability smooth,” the team said.

Having gone live on May 22, Kintara has drawn in about 20,540 monthly active players. Peak concurrent numbers have hovered between 800 and 1,300 across the network. The game has logged $450,000 in in-game transactions, and its daily player-to-player marketplace activity sits near $54,000.

How it works

Everything in Kintara happens inside the browser. After connecting a Solana wallet, a player needs to be holding 1,000 KINS to spin up a character. The gameplay loop then revolves around gathering, crafting, questing, PvP and trading — a design that leans more toward RuneScape than the automated earn-focused models typical of the space.

$KINS serves as both the in-game currency and a governance token. It’s traded on LBank, PumpSwap and Meteora, and the KINS/USDT pair on LBank is doing roughly $7.19 million in 24-hour volume. On June 18 the token reached a peak market cap of $22.9 million.

Infrastructure came first

These regional servers arrive weeks after a wider backend rebuild. In a June 19 update, the team announced it had shifted the game onto new infrastructure.

“Kintara servers have now been officially migrated. This new infrastructure gives us a much stronger foundation to support more players, reduce lag, improve responsiveness, and scale more smoothly as demand grows over the next few days,” the team said.

That effort set the stage for spreading players across continents instead of routing all international traffic through one region.

Background

Kintara has been given credit for helping revive a Solana gaming scene that had largely gone dormant. Its momentum cuts against a position voiced by Solana Foundation leadership earlier in the year, which argued that titles of this kind would never reclaim relevance on blockchains. Over the same stretch, other on-chain games — FarmTown among them — have seen players come back.

Since character progression depends on skill levels in mining, woodcutting and combat, and because both gathering and fighting demand hands-on input, there’s little space for the automated farming that has weighed down so many crypto games. Even so, bots haven’t been shut out completely.

The team has banned upwards of 4,000 bot accounts, describing it as bringing down the “Ban Hammer” on accounts that were gaming the market and eroding the economy, while adding further detection tools, restrictions and preventative measures. Suspected accounts are now handed a human-verification challenge, and any that fail to complete it within five minutes are automatically banned for 24 hours.
