Survival space game EVE Frontier is free-to-play until 9th December

Currently in its third cycle of iterative development, CCP Games’ blockchain-based reworking of its classic space MMORPG EVE Online continues to experiment with new features.

The latest mini-update to EVE Frontier is the addition of WASD controls, with which to move your ships around its unrelentless universe of resource collection, crafting, combat and economic survival.

And for the next week anyone can dip into the experience as CCP Games is running one of its free trial period, which will end on Tuesday 9th December, which is when the third cycle itself ends.

You’ll have to create an account via the EVE Frontier website and then download the launcher and then the PC game to play.

It’s also worth pointing out that after each cycle, everything apart for your EVE Points are wiped and the universe starts up again from scratch, leaving you with nothing but your expertise.

Permanent access to EVE Frontier starts from $40 for the Awakened starter pack, which will also gives you an exclusive ship skin, an exclusive account avatar and one month’s premium subscription when the game eventually goes live, perhaps in 2026 but more likely in 2027.
