XRPL launches Xcade hypercasual gaming platform using B3’s Open App Layer

In a surprising move, gaming blockchain B3 has partnered up with XRPL Commons to announce the XRPL Gamechain.

This will connect B3’s Open App Layer, which typically runs on Base but which can settle its transactions on any blockchain, with the much derided payment and tokenization blockchain XRP Ledger via its XRPL EVM sidechain.

As part of the deal, the XRPL-based RLUSD stablecoin will become the preferred stablecoin across the entire B3 ecosystem.

The two companies hope to combine the low fees and scalability of the XRP Ledger blockchain with B3’s ecosystem of content developers, hence encouraging XRP token holders to play games on the XRPL Gamechain.

In particular, content running on XRPL Gamechain is expected to be mobile-first, encouraging a more mass market approach.

This approach is also baked into the Xcade platform, which is XRPL Gamechain’s user-facing app that’s currently live in testnet. It features five titles, which you can play and collect testnet tokens to be placed on leaderboards to earn XRP-based rewards.

The full XRPL Gamechain experience is expected to launch this fall.
