MapleStory Universe is burning $1.7 million of NXPC tokens

Further to news of its “up to $50 million ecosystem fund“, MapleStory Universe developer Nexpace has announced plans for a regular buyback-and-burn mechanism of its NXPC token.
The idea is that 20% of the platform’s revenue as generated by user activity from buying and selling NFTs and levelling up in-game items etc will be spent buying back NXPC tokens from the open market.
These tokens will then be burnt, reducing the circulating supply.
It is worth noting that around 225 million tokens of a total 1 billion total supply (22.5%) are currently circulating, so the quarterly burn will almost certainly be overshadowed by future token unlocks.
In terms of scheduling, the burns will take place quarterly during the month after each of Nexpace’s financial quarters, which end January, April, July and October.
However, the first burn will take place on Thursday 27th November, which will see 3.8 million NXPC tokens burnt, which is 1.7% of the circulating supply.
Worth $1,675,573, this is 20% of user revenue from Q2 and Q3, the period running from April to September 2025.
On this basis, MapleStory Universe is generating around $1.4 million of platform revenue monthly.
