Splinterlands lowers Modern win streak threshold to 3,000, fixes Modern Brackets bugs in Oct. 6 update

splinterlands lowers modern win streak threshold to 3 000 fixes modern In Brief:

On Oct. 6, Splinterlands released a batch of fixes for its new Modern Brackets format. One of them resolves an issue with playing an Exemplar in bracket matches.

The release also cut the rating threshold for Modern win streaks from 3,700 to 3,000. According to the release notes, the adjustment was made because of “the changes to Modern.”

In a post on X, Splinterlands wrote: “This week’s release brings several Modern Brackets fixes and improvements, along with updates to Splintervibes, Survival, the Daily Wheel, and more!”

Bracket cleanup

The bulk of this week’s changes addressed display problems in the new format. Several Modern badge animations in the lobby were broken, and the team repaired them. It also fixed a bug where some parts of the interface listed a player as being in Division 2 when they were really in Division 1.

The team also fixed Modern top battles results.

The release adds a new restriction as well. If a card is under a bracket cooldown, it can’t be transferred or delegated back to the account holding that cooldown.

Two other fixes were pushed as hotfixes ahead of the full release. The first handled Modern Brackets display issues, including reward points missing from the history summary. The second changed how advancement claims carried over from last season were displayed.

Splintervibes and the lobby

The studio rebuilt the Splintervibes player UI and separated it from the volume controls. The volume options in the app bar now offer more settings, and players get additional controls while a Splintervibes track is playing.

The out-of-stock card tile is gone from the daily wheel spin. Splinterlands also changed the notification players see when a player-designed sticker comes in by transfer.

Survival changes

In the Survival section of the lobby, cards a player has rented or delegated out are no longer counted in the depleted card total. The team also tidied up the Survival Enabled/Disabled icon and tooltip for rented cards.

How Modern Brackets work

Bracket-based Modern ranked play arrived in the Sept. 30 release after players voted for it. “You voted for it. Modern Ranked Brackets arrive this upcoming season!” Splinterlands said when it announced the feature on X.

The format has six brackets: Novice, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond and Champion. Each bracket limits which card levels players can use. Every bracket contains nine divisions, which begin at 0 rating and climb in 500-point steps up to 4,000.

Players are allowed to reset their bracket until they receive advancement rewards. Any card played in a bracket, however, stays locked to that account until the season ends, and it can’t be sold or traded while the cooldown is active.

Survival was the first mode to get brackets. A June 30 update moved Survival Brackets one through five to Modern and made Bracket 6 Wild. Survival ratings now reset the same way ranked ratings do, as long as a player stays in the same bracket from one season to the next.

Splinterlands advised players to give themselves time to learn the new format.

“Expect a little ‘wait, how does this work?’ at first. Take your time, learn the ropes, and get ready to battle,” Splinterlands said.
