Limit Break soft launches mobile DigiDaigaku game Puzzle Panic

Over three years since announcing its massive $200 million funding round, US web3 developer Limit Break has launched its first game for testing.

Puzzle Panic has been in development for a number of years, predominantly in Limit Break’s Japanese studio. This is reflected in the game’s art style, which also leverages its DigiDaigaku NFT collection of anime girls.

Albeit in thin trading, the announcement that Puzzle Panic has been soft launched for iOS in New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore saw the floor price of DigiDaigaku NFTs double to over 1 ETH, with one rare item selling for over 2 ETH ($2,600).

As for the game itself, it’s an action puzzler in which players complete match puzzles to overcome various tasks, which are fronted by different game girls. Tasks shown in the video trailer include putting out a fire in a kitchen, breaking wood with a karate chop, and playing basketball. Boss battles are also promised.

In terms of the project’s status, Limit Break says, “For this phase, we’re focused on gameplay first. The current build doesn’t include web3 features, our priority is delivering a great core experience and learning from real player feedback. In parallel, we’re continuing to build our infrastructure and upcoming testnet”.

This is significant because, for the past couple of years, as well as game development, the company has been building core blockchain infrastructure ranging from its ERC-721C NFT trading protocol to the Apptoken standard that’s currently being used by the likes of Pixels, Axie Infinity and Moku Grand Arena.

It also teased in March 2026 that it would be launching a testnet, although it’s not clear what this would be used for.

In relation to possible web3 features in Puzzle Panic, one element of the metagame highlighted in the trailer is the ability to collect and trade stickers. This sort of activity could easily be extended to blockchain assets in future versions of the game.
