OG game Spider Tanks hitting early access on 8th December thanks to Immutable

Following a nasty exit from Gala Games, Dutch developer Gamedia has announced that its PVP shooter Spider Tanks is being rebooted on Immutable.

Originally launched in 2021, and now called Spider Tanks: Cores of Chaos, the game combines combat with a strong level of vehicle customization, enabling players to build out their particular type of legged fighting machine.

“Reviving Spider Tanks isn’t just about bringing back a fan favorite to a community worth fighting for – it’s also about showing the market that web3 games should be about fun first! With Immutable, we have not only found a partner that shares the same passion for fun, but also a commitment to integrity and follow-through that this industry sorely needs,” commented Gamedia’s CEO Dittmar Tukker.

Despite being one of Gala Games’ first and better experiences, its behavior resulted in Gamedia leaving in 2024, calling out the infamous blockchain org as being “opportunistic, greedy, and evil” in the process. This resulted in Gala suing Gamedia; a lawsuit that was quickly thrown out of court.

Following that split, there was hope the game would find another blockchain; something which has now reached its fulfillment with Immutable.

The game has now been added into the Immutable Play rewards platform ahead of a planned early access launch on 8th December. It will support PC, Mac (via Epic Games Store) and mobile devices.
