Axie: Den of Mysteries 2.0 launches with $6,000 prize event

Onchain Heroes has launched Axie: Den of Mysteries 2.0, rebuilding its degen-focused dungeon crawler around ten-floor runs, character development and a final boss. The update halves the cost of entry keys from $2 to $1 and introduces a launch competition offering more than $6,000 in prizes.

The turn-based roguelike is playable on desktop and mobile, with each run lasting 10 to 15 minutes. Players need a Ronin wallet but do not need to own an Axie NFT. A shared lobby provides access to the game’s features, alongside chat and cosmetic displays.

Each attempt takes players through nine procedurally generated dungeon floors before facing boss Kilnbane on floor ten. Players collect Treasure and develop their character through levels and Talents. Treasure determines their share of a weekly USDC prize pool, while defeating the boss creates opportunities for additional rewards.

Keys can be purchased using USDC, RON, WETH or AXS. One key is required to start a run, but players can commit up to 100. Using additional keys multiplies Treasure yield and Blessing payouts by the number of keys used, also increasing the chance of claiming the Throne. For example, an equivalent run producing 100 Treasure with one key will produce 500 with five keys.

Buying keys funds three reward pools. Seventy percent goes into the weekly pool, which settles each Thursday at 4pm UTC. Another 18% funds Blessings, while 5% supports the progressive Throne pool. The remaining 7% is allocated to ongoing development.

Defeating Kilnbane provides a 12% chance of receiving a Blessing Gem. Players cut the gem after their run to reveal a payout multiplier ranging from 0.5 to 21 times their key commitment. The highest multiplier on a 100-key run would therefore pay 2,100 USDC.

The Throne offers a separate prize. Players must defeat Kilnbane and leave the boss lair to complete their run and trigger a roll. Runs left open at the weekly reset do not qualify for that roll. Winners receive 80% of the accumulated pool and the soulbound Stella skin, with the remaining 20% funding the next Throne.

The chance of winning depends on both key spending and pool size. At a $2,500 pool, the stated odds range from approximately one in 2,000 for one key to one in 20 for 100 keys.

The Reborn Launch Event runs until 22nd October. A $5,000 leaderboard pool, divided equally between USDC and AXS, rewards the top 100 Shard collectors. Shards drop on floors one through eight, scale with keys used and accumulate without a cap throughout the event.

Kilnbane also drops one raffle ticket per key used. Players must submit tickets at the lobby’s Raffle Board to enter. Draws on 24th September, 8th October, and 22nd October each select five winners. Prizes include $500 in Axie Land items, 15 Ronke PFPs and $500 in RONKE rewards.

The update also increases the Bounty Board points awarded by Den of Mysteries quests across every currently available tier.
