Ronin details its new reputation system – Honor Score

Ronin has revealed more details about its upcoming Honor Score, outlining a reputation system that will rank users according to the quality of their participation across the blockchain gaming ecosystem.

The feature, which will launch later in 2026, is intended to solve one of the biggest problems facing onchain reward programs: distinguishing genuine community members from users creating multiple wallets to farm incentives.

Historically, many blockchain projects have measured success through simple metrics such as wallet numbers, transactions or total value locked. Such figures are relatively easy to inflate, however, with automated wallets and coordinated farming campaigns often making it difficult to identify real engagement.

Honor Score is Ronin’s attempt to move beyond these crude measurements.

Rather than rewarding every wallet equally, the system will build a reputation profile for each participant using a range of signals. These include wallet age, asset holdings, activity across multiple applications, retention over time and what Ronin describes as a user’s broader “network position”.

The resulting score will first be used within Ronin’s Proof of Distribution program, where it will help determine how ecosystem rewards are allocated. Users with stronger reputations will effectively carry more weight than newly created or low-quality accounts.

In that respect, Honor Score is primarily a Sybil resistance mechanism. Instead of trying to eliminate fake accounts entirely, Ronin is attempting to make them economically irrelevant by ensuring long-term participants receive a disproportionate share of future rewards.

And the implications could extend much further.

Because Honor Score exists at the blockchain level rather than inside any individual game, it creates the possibility of an ecosystem-wide reputation layer. A player’s history in Axie Infinity, Pixels or any future Ronin title could contribute to a single identity that follows them throughout the network.

Other factors that could influence it include:

  • Onchain activity across Ronin
  • Applications used
  • Asset holdings
  • Wallet age and retention
  • Network position and ecosystem participation
  •

Over time, such a reputation could create more influence than reward distributions. It could determine eligibility for future airdrops, early access to games, governance participation, treasury incentives or other ecosystem benefits.

In this sense, Honor Score represents a shift in how blockchain ecosystems think about users. Rather than treating wallets as anonymous addresses, Ronin is beginning to evaluate them as persistent economic participants whose behavior accumulates value over time.

Of course, this approach is not without trade-offs. Ronin has yet to publish the precise weighting raising inevitable questions about transparency and fairness. If wealthy users automatically receive higher scores because they hold more assets, the system risks reinforcing existing inequalities.

Nevertheless, Honor Score reflects a broader evolution. Networks are increasingly recognizing that decentralization itself does not create healthy economies. Instead, mechanisms that identify trustworthy participants and reward long-term contribution over short-term extraction are required.
