ICP game Dragginz goes “into hibernation”

The most high profile game on the ICP blockchain, MMORPG Dragginz has announced that it’s entered hibernation.
In development for the past couple of years as a “passion project” from the co-creators of Neopets – Adam Powell and Donna Powell – the game had previously seen its development temporarily paused as the team shifted their focus to NFT creation and marketplace Toko, which is currently in alpha.
As well as being a standalone app on ICP, it was argued that the functionality provided by Toko would be fundamental to Dragginz.
“We reached a point in development where we needed NFTs that could actually do things. Hold state, have function, and exist fully on-chain, not just be images on AWS. That’s why we have been building Toko,” the team stated on X.
However, it’s now been announced that Dragginz’ world builder and 3D team have now been given formal notice. They are now “wrapping things up so that they can be picked up again in the future”.
Of course, the reason for this decision is lack of funding, something reinforced by the drop in the ICP token price, which is down 63% in 2025 and continuing to hit all-time-lows.
The hopeful news, however, is that this isn’t the end of Dragginz.
“This isn’t the end of Dragginz — far from it. 🐲
“Dragginz is our passion project, and we will make it the best game we possibly can. It’s just going to take a little longer💜”, the team state.
