Alibaba and Animoca announce AliBAE build-and-earn AI creator platform

Demonstrating both the flexibility of ecosystems and speed of deployment, Animoca Brands has signed a deal with Alibaba to launch a decentralized platform for vibe coders and creators.
Using Alibaba’s Qwen AI models and the CHECK token underpinning the Anichess ecosystem, the two companies have signed an agreement to launch what they are calling AliBAE — Ali BuildAndEarn.
In addition to getting a certain amount of free AI credits, creators will use the CHECK token to run their experiments. The token will also be used to reward the apps with the most community engagement.
The use of the token is not directly linked to Anichess and its chess-centric games. Instead, it’s part of the wider Check ecosystem, which is run by the Check token foundation. CHECK is also being used by the Team Secret esports team.
Launched in November 2025, the CHECK token is one of the few gaming tokens that has increased in price since launch; currently up 390%.
Already live for log-ins, users are able to sign into AliBAE via email or wallet address. Doing so, gets you a Genesis Checker Badge. You can also get a credit multiplier by tweeting about the AliBAE. However, it’s not yet known when the platform will go live for creation.
Similar platforms already live include Verse8, which was developed by South Korean web3 game dev Planetarium, and which allows users to create and remix simple HTML5 games. Professional game developers can also get access to more complex features.
Animoca Brands has also demonstrated its interest in AI with the recent launch of its Animoca Minds project, which allows users to create and interact with AI agents via email or Telegram. This is built on CryptoSlam’s Ethoswarm infrastructure, which runs on what’s labelled a hybrid mix of Gemini, GPT and Anthropic LLMs. But, after a certain level of interactions, users have to refuel their minds using Stripe.
Certainly, cost is a major issue for any company looking to deploy consumer-facing AI at scale, so it will be interesting to see how generous Alibaba is in terms of allowing users to experiment with AliBAE before charging them.
