Startale Group has raised a $13 million follow-on investment from Sony Innovation Fund. This will enable the company to expand its work building an ecosystem on Sony’s Soneium L2 blockchain. As well as entertainment, Startale says it is looking to building a creator-led community including fan experiences for the AI era.
Startale previously raised $7 million from investors, including Sony and Samsung Next.
Although the company is currently focused on building community via the alpha launch of its app, which is focused on DeFi and social quests, it has announced the first games going live through its Mini-Apps program. These include titles such as Awakening of Guardians, Burrow Bash, Clash Horse, Dice or Die, Heroes of Hecanos, Morning Farm, Morning Moon Pocket, Pocket Knights and World of Trinity.
US/UK Bitcoin payment platform ZBD has raised $40 million in a Series C round for its Bitcoin-based games payment platform. $36 million of the investment came from Blockstream Capital. The 70-strong company has now raised $90 million from lead investors including Lakestar and Kingsway. It’s not yet profitable but has worked with 55 games (mainly mobile) in 2025, gaining 2 million new accounts and performing 120 million transactions. ZBD uses the Bitcoin Lightning network to enable developers to pay players, and players to pay other users or move their sats to other wallets or spend them directly in the real-world. ZBD plans to expand its payments network, which is MiCA and EMI-compliant, beyond crypto and improve support for PC and console games.
