EVE Frontier’s migration to Sui planned for Q1 2026

CCP Games’ in-development MMOG EVE Frontier is one of the most anticipated blockchain games of the year.

Thankfully, its dev team is also highly professional. Not only does it have a public roadmap, it sticks to its roadmap.

So with the game’s Cycle 4 now live, the start of 2026 provides a good opportunity to take a look at what to expect for the first three months of the year.

As a reminder, each Cycle last three months and ends with the entire world being wiped. This allows the game team to iterate freely without worrying about backwards compatibility.

Cycle 4 saw the introduction of direct ship controls, and will see the start of the character progression system and the ability to create clone characters. There will also be the ability for players to work together to build bases, while other aspects of the game to be improved will include testing the economy, balancing the universe, and making every ship feel unique.

Due in late March or early April, Cycle 5 will see a combination of game updates and the first big blockchain features, with the game’s migration from its current EVM testnet to Sui, the blockchain that CCP Games’ has committed to for EVE Frontier’s launch.

Significantly, this migration will provide the first opportunity for third party developers to start building what CCP Games calls “programmable infrastructure” within the universe.

As for game features, these will include enhancements to combat, both in terms of the attack and defence of bases, and new scanning and detection systems to find other players, and avoid being found by other players.

Cycle 5 will also see new ships, an update to the travel system, and improvements to the inventory system and the game’s HUD.
