How Abstract RPG Gigaverse is looking to expand into “a universe of universes”

Having recently raised $2 million, Gigaverse co-founder Dith has provided an update on the Abstract-based pixel RPG, which has now been live for over 200 days.

In terms of the funding round, Dith pointed out that with a lean team of less than 10 developers, the project technically didn’t need to raise capital because its cashflow is so strong.

The game requires an upfront cost of $20 with over 77,000 lifetime players generating revenue of $1.5 million, and this is ignoring the game’s other revenue streams.

For, in addition to the entry fee, Gigaverse has sold over $250,000-worth of cosmetic NFTs items and also recently sold 18,000 of its Gigaverse Giglings, generating a further $575,000. These are mounts that holders will be able to hatch when the game’s open world mode launches.

Combined with other sales and royalties from NFT trading etc, Gigaverse has now generated over $5.5 million, with Dith claiming its predicted annual sales are now over $10 million.

As for the future, there are two main elements.

One is the game itself, with Dith revealing that the team’s vision is that “Gigaverse will grow into: a Disneyland-type experience where there are many different rides (gameplay modes), each requiring a different level of skill, time, money, risk, some PvE, some PvP, some cooperative, etc. It will be hard/impossible to master them all, so that’s where specialization + team work (guilds) will come into play.”

In addition to the game itself, the plan is to enable a wider ecosystem in which other developers can plug into core experience with their own apps and games.

Labelled the Gigaverse Hub, this already features nine apps ranging from autobattlers to dashboards, trading apps and wikis.
