Xsolla acquires web3 community platform Ludo to boost web store push

Games payment outfit Xsolla has acquired web3 community platform Ludo for an undisclosed sum.

It says it will integrate Ludo’s code-free social quests into the Xsolla Web Shop and other rewards solutions to help developers increase player engagement, drive retention, and unlock new monetization opportunities beyond the traditional app store model.

With the unravelling of Apple and Google’s app store model, webstores are a fast-growing part of the games industry, with Xsolla’s technology being used in over 500 gaming webstores where players can buy in-game assets without paying platform holders’ high transaction fees.

A relatively new startup in terms of its web3 activity, Ludo has previously worked with the likes of Gumi’s OSHI3, Fly Penguin to launch its RPG Edomae Monsters, South Korean publisher NHN, and mobile game dev Sugarverse.
