Neymar embraces Web3 and launches collection of NFTs: “Gift for my fans”
It took a while, the fashion emptied out, but after almost a year the Brazilian soccer player Neymar Jr launched his own collection de NFTs on Monday (24) on platform OpenSea . The total sales of the collection called JungleVIBES so far add up to three ethers — the equivalent of BRL 21,000.
Na posting , billed as 'paid partnership', the player announces that the NFTs are within a metaverse called BestMode and suggests that purchasing the NFT may entitle you to a star meet event.
In a promotional video posted on the account of the company responsible for the collection, NFTstar, Neymar says he is excited about the NFTs: “Finally my personal Web3 project is coming out”.
The player also asks people to connect their wallets to the company's website to receive 'Jungle Vibes' NFTs for free. "It's a gift from me to my fans."
Until the morning of this Tuesday (25), 41,436 wallets already had lied --nbsp ; — term meaning creating new tokens through smart contracts — an NFT from the player's collection for free, paying network fees only.
This first "Prologue" rated player collection has an unlimited supply, but other waves of NFTs will be released in the future in phases. “The other pieces of the puzzle will be revealed during the evolution of the episodes”, describes a page of NFTSTAR.
Among the utilities provided to NFT holders is becoming eligible to create NFTs from other collections of the Beastmode metaverse and from other episodes of the Neymar collection, in addition to holders being able to win other special prizes.
As this newly released first player set has an unlimited supply, the amounts traded on the secondary market are still small.
The collection's floor price is less than 0.001 ETH (R$7), and only 2% of the 26,100 holders have listed their NFTs for sale on OpenSea. Until this Tuesday, 735 sales of Neymar's collection have already been registered on the platform.
Neymar and NFTs
At the end of October last year, the player had announced the partnership with NFT Star, but the project seems to have stalled. In the meantime, the player took a big loss with the NFTs Bored Apes for which paid millions of reais and today they are in the hundreds of thousands.
Its digital collectibles, the company says, will be offered in limited numbers. Each collectible NFT has a unique record on the blockchain, and users will gain ownership of the unique collectible NFT through purchasing on the platform or trading on the NFTSTAR marketplace.
An NFT ( non-fungible token) is a type of token created in blockchain that proves ownership and provenance of digital items such as image and video files as well as physical assets.
